ABOUT
[ BEHIND THE CODE ]

[ GAVIN JAMES ]
I’m Gavin James, a Computer Science and Information Technology student whose interests span cybersecurity, software, web development, and IT. What started as an interest in technology has grown into a drive to understand how systems are built, how they communicate, where they can fail, and how they can be better secured.
I learn best by building and experimenting. Whether I’m developing a website, working in Linux, analyzing network traffic, troubleshooting a system, or exploring security concepts in a lab, I’m constantly looking for the next problem to solve.

[ EXPERIENCE ]
[ CYBERSECURITY ]
Hands-on security experience through professional, academic, and independent environments, with exposure to vulnerability identification, network analysis, security testing, and system hardening.
[ DEVELOPMENT ]
Websites and digital projects built for businesses, organizations, individuals, and personal projects using platforms and technologies including WordPress, Shopify, Wix, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
[ INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ]
Experience troubleshooting hardware and software, configuring systems, working across Windows and Linux environments, and solving technical problems through hands-on support.
[ PURSUING CYBERSECURITY ]
Cybersecurity has become one of the areas of technology I’m most interested in pursuing professionally. I’m currently preparing for the CompTIA Security+ certification while continuing to develop practical experience through coursework, independent labs, and security-focused projects.
I’m particularly interested in network security, vulnerability assessment, web security, traffic analysis, Linux, and understanding both how systems are attacked and how they can be defended.
My background in development and IT gives me another perspective on security: I want to understand technology from both the builder’s and defender’s side.

[ BEYOND THE CODE ]
Technology is a major part of what I do, but curiosity is really what drives me.
I enjoy taking on new projects, experimenting with ideas, learning unfamiliar technologies, and figuring things out through hands-on experience. Whether I’m building a website, working through a cybersecurity lab, developing a personal project, or troubleshooting something that isn’t working, I enjoy the process of turning a problem into something I understand.
I’m always looking for the next opportunity to build, learn, collaborate, and improve.
[ WHATS NEXT ]
I’m continuing to build my experience across cybersecurity, IT, and development while working toward professional certifications and taking on new projects.
I’m especially interested in opportunities that challenge me technically, allow me to solve real problems, and give me the chance to keep learning.
The goal isn’t to stop at knowing how technology works. It’s to understand it well enough to build it, troubleshoot it, secure it, and improve it.
